Aims:
1. Introduce the principle of electromagnetic waves
2. Introduce applications for EM waves at radio, microwave and optical frequency
3. Introduce analysis tools valid for low and high frequency
4. Introduce design principles of communications, radar and imaging systems


Learning Outcomes:
1. Analyse low frequency systems using transmission line theory
2. Analyse high frequency systems using Maxwell’s equations
3. Understand design principles of radio and fibre communications
4. Understand design principles of directive antennae and radar systems
5. Understand design principles of optical and X-ray imaging systems
