Proposals

Link for EEE Staff wishing to enter project proposals

All project proposals must be vetted by the project coordinator. There are three ways to get a project proposal:

  1. Wait for the list of generally available staff projects, and bid for it with other students at the start of the Autumn Term. (This is followed by 80% of students). This list is posted at or just before the start of the Autumn Term, and you should arrange to see possible supervisors before choosing projects.
  2. Propose your own project (typically this works best for software or electronics projects, where you have an idea for a novel application/device). I, or some other member of staff, can give you feedback and help you to finalise a proposal if it is potentially feasible.
  3. Propose an industrially sponsored project. If the company is known to you, and wants to work with you, this is very similar to 2 above, but I need to talk to the industrial contact before agreeing the project.

The range of possible projects is very variable, with no fixed formula. Project work must be done mainly in the College, so projects which require you to be away from College for a lot of time are not permitted.

Notes on selection of staff-supervised projects.

Staff projects must be chosen by students early in the Autumn Term. Information about this will be e-mailed to all students at the start of Term, but make sure that you keep the first week of Term mostly free for this purpose.
