The aim of this project is to optimise the design of a power converter and devise the control strategy for a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) in a small-scale generation environment.
This is a joint research carried out with the Chemical Engineering Department and the Centre for Energy Policy and Technology at Imperial College London and represents an important extension to the Distributed Generation Platform Grant.
The major challenge undertaken in this research project is the optimisation
of every single aspect of a SOFC application across several disciplines,
from its fundamental specifications to its power converter to its top-level
control strategy.
